(#1 3-0) California 70 - (1-2) Ariel 0
BERKELEY - Cal closes out their non-conference schedule with a visit from Ariel out of the Big East. Ariel and their spread attack had started the season at #25, but an early season loss has knocked them out of the Top 25. Memorial Stadium is the worst place to go if you want to get back into the ranks.
The Golden Bears continued to roll with the ball in their hands, and won this game easily. Kyle Boehm did throw his first INT of the season, but balanced it out with 4TD. The arrival of freshman WR Dexton Fields has proved helpful, but costly for TE DeAndre Brown. Fields caught 8 passes for 113 yards and a TD, proving to be a real target for Boehm opposite Brown.
On defense the Bears were turnover machines. CB Terrence Miller notched his first two INT of the season, one of them a TAINT. Ariel's QB Justin Sanders managed to pass for 107 yards, but his inexperience showed when he threw 4INT. DE/OLB Austin English lived in the Ariel backfield and racked up 3 sacks.
