Trojans Crumble In Coliseum

(#12 4-3) USC 7 - (#3 7-0) California 56

LOS ANGELES - The former glory of USC has faded a bit lately, but that doesn't mean the rivalry between them and Cal has changed. The Trojans "welcomed" the Golden Bears to LA for what could decided the Pac-10 title down the line. Coach Lane Kiffen hasn't had a great opening to his time at USC, but a win over Cal could put them back in the drivers seat.

Beau Sweeney continued his assault on opposing scoreboards with yet another 300+ yard game. USC's defense played quite a bit better than most and held Sweeney to 13/22, but sadly those 13 receptions resulted in 4TD. Sweeney sprayed the ball to Marvin Jones and Anthony Miller for three of his four TD. Once Cal took a wide lead they went to Green and Deboskie-Johnson to grind out a blowout win.

Marvin Jones' Heisman campaign is looking good.

Cal's defense played well but allowed their first TD of the season, which would have been a problem if they hadn't scored 56 points. USC QB Matt Barkley looked good but managed to find Terrence Miller for a drive killing INT. Aside from the scoring drive USC's offense looked timid and weak in the face of Cal's blitzing schemes.
