Golden Bears Trounce Baby Bears

(#1 4-0) California 63 - (1-3) UCLA 0

BERKELEY -
Cal opened Pac-10 play today with a visit from UCLA, a great way to start conference play. The Bruins have been losing the battle of LA to USC, and have dropped to the 4th best California school in the Pac-10. UCLA needs a serious turn around before they can challenge for the Pac-10 title.

Cal's offense barely skipped a beat against the hapless Bruin defenders. The only blemish on Kyle Boehm's day was his second INT of the season, a foolish pass attempt from Cal's 4 yard line, luckily he bounced back to go 18/20. The biggest story of the game was UCLA's complete inability to halt the Bears ground game. HB Darrell Green and Boehm combined for 300 yards and 5TD on the ground, no way to play if you plan on beating Cal.

Green keeps rolling.

UCLA's offense had a horrible day, and they were lucky to leave with their starters in good health. The Bears used their talented freshman edge rushers, Cortney Grixby and Austin English, to put pressure on all aspects of the offense. English had a great day, but Grixby topped him by picking off a deflected pass. The Bears finished the game with a 597-81 advantage in offensive yards.
