(#3 6-0) California 70 - (3-4) UCLA 0
SAN FRANCISCO - UCLA traveled 400 miles north to face off against UC brethren California, not the place to go when you need a win. Cal is currently riding a nation-high win streak, and has been obliterating their opponents when few expected them to be good. Despite their losses the emergence of the Sweeney-Jones connection has powered Cal's offense to a degree nobody could have predicted.
The biggest story out of Cal's camp has been the ascension of HB Darrell Green. Despite playing well Covaughn Deboskie-Johnson has been deposed as the starter and will now play behind Green. Green has been impressive in games and has been the HB of choice in passing formations/situations, his speed and sure hands have landed him at third on the team in receptions behind WR Marvin Jones and TE Anthony Miller.
Cal completely destroyed UCLA today, and the Sweeney-Jones-Green trio proved to be unstoppable. Sweeney continued his tear and needed only 18 completions to pass for 321 yards and 5TD. Green impressed as well and Marvin Jones continued his campaign to lead the nation in receiving yards.
UCLA's headaches weren't confined to their defense as Cal make quick work of their offense and special teams. CB Terrence Miller added yet another TAINT to his resume, and P/K Brian Anger recovered a fumble on the kickoff and ran it back for a touchdown. Having a kicker run it in for a TD is probably the worst thing that will happen to UCLA this season.
