Huskies Ruined By The Bay

(#2 10-0) California 63 - (3-6) Washington 7

SAN FRANCISCO - Washington made the trip south to try and unseat Pac-10 leader California today, and with 3 games left this could be Washington's last chance at a bowl berth. Washington is currently 6th in the Pac-10 and needs 3 wins to make a bowl game, a loss today could give Cal the opportunity to clinch the conference with a win next week against Oregon State. Coach Steve Sarkisian has done well to resurrect the Huskies from the Tyrone Willingham era, but they haven't reached the heights of the early 1990's.

Washington's defense did well to fluster Beau Sweeney, keeping him 11/21, but once again the 11 receptions were killer. Sweeney racked up another 300 yard game and found Marvin Jones (185) and Anthony Miller (100) for 285 yards and 3TD. Nothing new here as Cal had their way with Washington all game and never looked back.

Heisman favorite Marvin Jones takes a pass 98 yards.

Washington did manage to score the second TD of the season on Cal's defense, but that was about it. Washington looked horrible and lost without departed QB Jake Locker and had absolutely no chance at winning this game. A win today sets up a dramatic finish to the Pac-10 as #3 Stanfurd topped Oregon State to remain undefeated.
