(#9 10-2) Stanfurd 7 - (#2 12-0) California 84
PALO ALTO - Cal made the trip across the bay to play rival Stanfurd in the Big Game. Once again the Big Game would have Pac-10 title implications, a win by Stanfurd would send them to the Rose Bowl and exact revenge on Cal for last season.
Apparently Stanfurd didn't prepare for Cal's running game, and it showed from the start of the game. QB Kyle Boehm barely broke a sweat, going 13/13, and managed the offense perfectly. HB Darrell Green sewed up his Heisman bid with 303 yards and 5TD, which wouldn't have been so bad if Stanfurd hadn't allowed 3 rushing TD to Boehm. The Cardinal barely knew what hit them.
Stanfurd's offense was completely impotent, its hard to believe they won 10 games. The focal point of their offense, QB Andrew Luck, was not very good at all. Luck threw for 107yards and a TD, but he was picked off twice. Adding to their woes was their punting game, which constantly gave Cal a short field over and over. Stanfurd's back-up was taking kicks, which explains why they couldn't do anything.
