Cal Beats Alabama... Again

(#1 13-0) California 63 - (#2 13-1) Alabama 0

PASADENA - California would be wire-to-wire #1 and welcome #2 Alabama, again, to play for the BCS Title. Cal has played Alabama for three of their four trips to the title game, so these two are very familiar with each other. Few hold out much hope for Alabama to finally beat Cal.

Cal pretty much came into this game committed to running the ball, and nothing stopped them. Nick Saban's Crimson Tide probably though Cal would throw on them quite a bit, but Coach London used the option to crush the Tide. QB Kyle Boehm did go 8/11 for 169 yards, his lowest total of the season, but most of his damage was done on the ground. The Golden Bears powered their way to 512 rushing yards between Boehm (178) and Darrell Green (332). When the dust had settled Green would finish the season with 3261 rushing yards and the new single season rushing record.

Green closes out a monster season.

Alabama must have thought that curling up in a ball would keep them safe, but it didn't. The Tide's QB, AJ McCarron, had a nightmare of a game. McCarron went 11/28 with 4INT, three of them by CB Terrence Miller. RE/OLB Austin English continued to shine with 9 tackles and a sack, Alabama didn't look like they wanted to be here and certainly didn't do anything to win the game.
