(#1 5-0) California 100 - (2-4) Washington State 0
PULLMAN - The Golden Bears traveled to the rainy Pacific Northwest to take on Washington State today. The Bears would be prepared, but they wouldn't be very worried about losing to one of the Pac-10's worst teams.
Nobody expected Washington State to win, but allowing 100 points was unthinkable. QB Kyle Boehm had a marquee day with 11 total TD, 9 passing and 2 rushing, which fueled the record blow out. Cal rolled up 322 rushing yards to go along with Boehm's 436 passing, a tragic day for fans of the Cougars.
Washington State should have been happy to get Cal's offense off the field, but the nightmare continued. CB Terrence Miller had a TAINT to go along with his 11 tackles, topped only by DE/OLB Austin English. English tallied 12 tackles and 3 sacks, which helped usher the Cougars off the field faster than they would have liked. As a reward for scoring in the triple digits the Bears were delighted to receive commitments from some of the top prospects in the nation. The pending void at QB, either this year or next, helped Cal snag the #1 (John Yancey, Gunbarrel CO) and #2 (Corey Barret, Avondale LA) prospects in the nation. They also locked up the #2 T Jasper Anderson out of Andrews TX.
