Sun Devils Torched In Berkeley

(#16 7-0) California 70 - (2-5) Arizona State 0

BERKELEY - With USC in the rear view mirror and a #16 ranking the Bears looked to continue their success against conference foe Arizona State. The Sun Devils have struggled quite a bit this season, but their offense would come into this game as a major concern for Cal. Arizona State's biggest problem would be their defense, which has proved porous all season.

Arizona State did little to win this game and Cal did everything right. The Sun Devils powerful spread offense could only muster 76 yards, and managed a whopping 4 turnovers. The turnovers absolutely killed the Sun Devils as Cal scored 28 points off of them.

Vereen makes it six.

Cal's gameplan was very familiar as Shane Vereen continued to lead the nation in rushing yards. Vereen carried the ball 23 times and found the endzone 6 times. The success of Vereen and the effective nature of Cal's defense have made things much easier for the Golden Bears, and at this rate Cal's chances of winning the Pac-10 look good.
