(#3 11-0) California 35 - (6-5) Stanfurd 7
BERKELEY - With the Pac-10 title and The Axe on the line stanfurd would not need much motivation to win this game. The Cardinal have not forgotten Cal's last second win in Palo Alto last year, so wrecking Cal's chances at the Pac-10 and a possible National Title game berth would be more than enough to make up for their 6-4 record.
As soon as Stanfurd's QB Andrew Luck too the field it was apparent that Cal would have their hands full. Luck proved hard to bring down and even worse was very accurate, and went 12/16. Unfortunately for Stanfurd their luck ended there as Cal completely shut down their running game. Once the Cardinal couldn't run they were able to keep Stanfurd's passes short and underneath.
Cal's offense looked like a broken record as Shane Vereen carried the ball for a new season high of 35 times. Stanfurd couldn't handle to Bears crushing attack and could do little but watch Vereen walk into the endzone again and again. With a hefty lead Cal ran the clock out with Vereen and Deboskie-Johnson eating up yards and keeping Luck off the field. As the clock hit 0:00 Cal secured their third consecutive Big Game win and the outright Pac-10 title, and most importantly their first trip to the Rose Bowl since 1959.
