(1-3) Arizona 0 - (4-0) California 28
TUSCON - California opened their Pac-10 schedule today under the blazing Arizona sun. After posting such horrible numbers on pass defense last season facing Arizona's Air Raid offense would be an unpleasant prospect. Arizona would come into this game looking to right their ship after a disappointing 1-2 start.
Unfortunately for Arizona's coach Stoops Cal would do their best to get him back on the hot seat. Arizona's offense was bland and couldn't do much of anything. Once Cal managed a lead they clamped down on their passing game and let them run out of the spread all they wanted, which wasn't productive at all. Arizona QB Nick Foles made some decent passes, but in the end walked away with 90 yards on 25 attempt. Cal sophomore Josh Hill picked off Foles, ending any chance at a decent outing.
The big story of today's game was Cal's offensive line absolutely manhandling Arizona's defense. Cal ran the ball with impunity and scored 3 rushing TD to take command of the game. Kevin Riley managed to break his INT streak but barely threw the ball with 11 attempts, if Cal continues their success on the ground Riley can continue limiting his attempts.
